509 Films is Founded  


509's journey started with Tom Delanoy's deep passion for snowmobiling. In 2003, Delanoy envisioned creating a snowmobile film featuring himself and local riders in Spokane, Washington. Through countless hours on the mountain and mastering video editing techniques, Delanoy completed his first snowmobile film.

In the world of snowmobiling, the release of a highly anticipated film can bring together a community of passionate riders, creating an atmosphere of excitement and camaraderie. Such was the case with the premiere of "First Ascent". Held in 2006 at Northern Quest Casino, this event marked a milestone in the snowmobiling community, drawing hundreds of enthusiastic attendees.

The humble beginnings of 509 Films with "First Ascent" exemplify the power of passion, dedication, and the pursuit of a vision. From the solo endeavors of filming, editing, and production, to the collaboration with a local company for distribution, "First Ascent" laid the groundwork for the growth and success of 509 Films.

509 Designs the First Snowmobile Goggle


Before the introduction of specialized snowmobiling goggles, snowmobilers often resorted to using ski or snowboarding goggles or modular helmets. However, that all changed when 509 unveiled their groundbreaking Sinister goggle.

509 Expands Their Goggle Lineup


509 initially made waves in the industry with the launch of their Sinister Goggle. The success of the Sinister goggle laid a strong foundation for 509 to expand their goggle range and cater to the evolving needs of riders. Building upon the success of their groundbreaking Sinister goggle, the brand has expanded its offerings to include the Aviator and Dirt Pro goggles.

The launch of the Evolution Snowmobile Helmet in 2009 not only marked a significant milestone for 509 but also set the stage for a seamless integration with their previously successful Sinister and Aviator goggles. With a dedication to providing riders with a complete gear solution, 509 ensured that the Sinister and Aviator goggles perfectly complemented the Evolution Helmet, offering riders an unparalleled fit and performance.

509's Launched their first Carbon FIber Helmet


The launch of 509's first carbon fiber snowmobile helmet in 2012 marked a significant milestone in the company's history and the snowmobiling industry as a whole. It demonstrated their dedication to innovation and safety while setting a new standard for helmet technology in the snowmobile market.

509's Launches the Freeride and Backcountry Gloves


In 2013, 509 took a bold step by introducing its Freeride and Backcountry Gloves. This launch represented a major milestone as these gloves were among the first technical textile-based items in the company's product lineup.

509 Creates the Signature Altitude Helmet and Sinister X5 Goggle


In 2015, 509 embarked on an adventurous journey that expanded its product lineup with the launch of the Altitude 2.0 and Altitude 2.0 Offroad helmets, redefining standards for rider safety and comfort and the Sinister X5 and Sinister MX5 goggles, setting a new benchmark for eye protection.

In 2017, 509 embarked on a new era of snowmobile helmet innovation with the introduction of their very first full-face trail snowmobile helmet, the Delta R3. 509 continued to raise the bar, and the evolution from the Delta R3 to the current Delta R3L Ignite Helmet, the Delta R4 Ignite Helmets, and the Delta V Ignite Helmets.
